Easy Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Summer is coming to the end that usually means the excess tomatoes. What to do with them? My favorite way to use the extra tomato sauce is homemade. In fact, I have a great range cooking right now!

will

9-10 large tomatoes
1 large onion
2 large bell peppers, I like to use a different color
Italian Seasoning
2-3 cloves garlic, more if you like

If you want to clean the tomatoes, remove stem and dip each into boiling water for a few seconds, then remove the skin. But I promised the "easy", so I do not do it. In a large heavy saucepan add about 1 / 2 inches of water and start boiling, then I cleaned all the tomatoes and slice off the top, and throw tomatoes in a pan with the skin will slip off na.Koža, until the sauce is cooking, and you can just skim the sauce and discard. Also I have an idea that I would get more nutrients into the sauce this way. Nothing scientific just my opinion.

chop your onions and peppers to the size you want, I make mine pretty chunky and add tomatoes. Your tomatoes should be getting softer now. Take a potato masher and gently push down on the tomatoes. You should be getting some juice construction. Let the mixture cook for a bit and squeeze again. Repeat until all tomatoes have collapsed.

At this point you can take a fork and stir through the sauce to remove some of the skin.

Add 1 / 4 cup Italian season and chopped or sliced garlic.

During the next hour, and still lightly boiling sauce and remove skin.

Your sauce is now ready to freeze! At this time it will still be very "juicy". That's fine. Let cool in freezer containers, scoop yourself how your family will need for the meal. I freeze portions 3 cups for a family of three. If you use plastic containers, leave at least an inch headspace in the container. I use heavy duty freezer bags.

When you are ready to use, thaw and place the sauce in the pan. Add 1 pound of browned ground beef or sausage. You can also keep it meatless if you prefer. Heat the sauce to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for several hours or until the sauce has reduced and thickened.

Serve over spaghetti or your favorite pasta and enjoy the delicious taste of spaghetti sauce are fresh from the garden!
